Tuesday morning we wanted to take a long walk so we actually set the alarm so we wouldn't sleep too late. It has been pretty warm here so we wanted to walk before it got too hot. We decided to walk to the next town, Noyers sur Cher. It is the town where the train station is so we headed over the bridge towards the station and then turned right to walk into the center of town.
We thought it was going to be a town larger than Saint Aignan, I guess because it has the train station, but it is not. It is small, but very pretty. We took a lot of pictures which I'll show you below. We stopped at the local patisserie and I had a chocolate croissant and David had his new favorite -- apple, the chausson au pomme. We sat in the shade on a wall outside of the Post Office to eat our breakfast. We watched the townspeople go to work and waved at them and hollered bonjour. We watched a nicely dressed, elderly man, prying up individual cobblestones of his driveway with a screwdriver attempting to make them more level. We also watched a young woman put flowers out in front of a flower shop. We've learned in France that no matter how small the town, there is always a bakery and a flower shop. And the flower shops are usually quite beautiful.
All in all I think we walked about 6 miles north, northeast of Saint Aignan! When we got home we did laundry and took a much needed short nap.
For dinner I made some delicious tomato/vegetable soup which we had with a baguette that I baked and butter and some herb spread cheese. David had an avocado salad with his soup and I had some black olives. We chose not to have any wine because we were planning an early adventure on Wednesday.
Dianna, David took this photo for you. We just love the way the horses look in the fog. They were in a pasture just past where we crossed the bridge.
This scene was just a little ways past the horse pasture. It's an interesting water view -- it's so thick with algae!
Cute chickens in a yard.
David and I both loved this house. It looks abandoned but maybe its owners are just away. In the second picture look closely at what's on top of the chimney. It looks like a porcelain cat with a mouse in his mouth!
I didn't get a very good picture of this tree which is too bad because it was gorgeous. David got a better close up of the flowers. They looked like velvet!
Lastly, here is a beautiful view walking back over the bridge into Saint Aignan.
