We did some basic things like shopping at the patisserie (daily event!) and the cheese store. We were very successful at the cheese store because the clerk spoke some English and David was armed with the French words for mild and medium cheese. Geena, you would be very proud of David's French. He somehow pulls French words out of his head and forms sentences with them. I know that's how we all speak English; but David is very good at French now too. I recognize words and can generally understand the gist of what is being said but I don't yet have David's command of the language.
We took a long walk around the town which is built around the base of a chateau. The chateau is privately-owned and still lived in so it is not open to the public. We read that the public is allowed to enter the courtyard to take pictures and see the views from there. We haven't done that yet but we did take some pictures of the medieval tower and wall.
We have seen these rows of trees a few places and they are beautiful! Maybe if Rachael reads this blog page she can tell us what kind of trees they are. They always seemed to be planted in rows like this.
This gorgeous house, we assume, was a guard house or something like that. I want to buy it and live there!
And, of course, David couldn't pass up a bathroom!
In the later part of the day we read and watched the news on TV. Very relaxing. For dinner we ate at home and had the delicious cheese we just bought earlier in the day with a baguette, olives, etc., and enjoyed it with a nice glass or two of rose wine.
For dessert we had a little ice cream . . . coconut and chocolate. We are on vacation, after all!
