Monday!  What a great day!  It has been another fabulous day in Saint Aignan.  The sky was clear blue and the temperature in the mid-80s.  David and I had been following the weather for a few weeks before this trip and it seemed like it had been cool and pretty wet. The highs had been in the upper 60s.  I kept telling David that summer wasn't over yet and that we would enjoy sunny, warm weather and we have.  It is forecast to continue for the foreseeable future!  Yay for us!!!

We had a very leisurely morning this morning.  I enjoyed a few cups of coffee and David enjoyed iced tea that I made for him using French tea bags that we guessed were the right ones.  While we sat around we also read and watched the news on TV.  When we finally went out to go to the (best) patisserie close to our house, we found out it is closed on Monday.  A very nice man walked buy and noticed we were staring at the closed bakery and told us one was open a few blocks away.  We found it easily and David placed our order.  Geena, you would have been so proud of his French!  He ordered a vegetable quiche, a ham sandwich, a raisin pastry and a baguette.  He didn't stumble over a word and the clerk quickly prepared our order.  I was amazed!  But I shouldn't be because David is very good with languages!

On the walk home we also discovered the Super U grocery store was closed as well as many of the restaurants.  I guess closing on Sunday and Monday is common.  We will tuck that information away for later and will know to stock up with groceries on Saturdays.  We also stopped in at the Tourist Office again and selected more local wine.

After breakfast we decided we needed to get some exercise so we walked down to the river and walked for about an hour and a half.  We saw some beautiful gardens!  We also played in the park and checked out the indoor swimming pool.  Too bad it was drained and being repaired.

Anyone who knows David knows he never passes a bathroom without using it!

We love this view of Saint Aignan from the river:

We did some straightening up around the house and then cleaned up a little and went to a nearby wine bar/cave called Aux Cepages.  Nathalie recommended it to us and we enjoyed it.  We had our first glass of wine inside but it was so nice outside that we had our second glass at a table outside.  We recognized a woman sitting at a table near us as the woman who organized the exposition we visited yesterday.  She remembered us too and offered us some French biscotti.  How fun to recognize someone in our new town!

For dinner we went to a place called L'embarcadere that Douglas had mentioned to us yesterday.  It was very nice and the food was good.  For a change we did not have dessert! Of course we did have a little chocolate at home so we did have some of that for dessert. Just a little something to sweeten our dreams!
